Insurance has enslaved doctors to follow protocols and guidelines to get paid. This forces doctors to limit their treatments to the medicines pushed by pharmaceutical companies who contract with insurance companies. Stepping way from insurance allows me to think outside the box and to work with you, my patient, to try new things and find what works best for you.
I do not bill or accept payment from insurance. Private insurances may reimburse you for “out of network provider” depending on your policy. If you have HMO insurance, you must see a doctor in your network to get testing and referrals covered. A PPO insurance allows me to order testing and do referrals for you. Medicare and Medicaid will not reimburse for my services. Any labs, testing, or specialist referrals ordered for you are paid for based on your insurance contract.
I do not have a clinic building.
I only do telehealth and home visits.
Appointments for Telehealth are made online using the button below. Fees are listed below under Frequently asked Questions. The fee is based on time and complexity and is determined at the end of your visit.

Contact my office for home visit appointments.

When you sign up with me you will receive a text inviting you to pMD, a secure text and video app.
Forms, labs, and test results go through MailHIPPO, a secure email site. You will receive 2 emails, one giving you a temporary passcode to sign up and a second with your information.
These services are free to you. If you are asked to pay, you clicked on the wrong link.

I have no secretary so I prefer if you send a message using the contact link.

Frequently asked Questions
Are there any medications you do not prescribe?
I do not prescribe controlled substances such as pain medications like opioids, some sleeping and anxiety medications, and ADHD medications. I also do not prescribe birth control pills and medication for erectile dysfunction. I may choose not to prescribe medications that require special monitoring like Coumadin/ warfarin.
Why don’t you take insurance?
My goal is to offer lower cost primary care services to people with no insurance or high deductible insurance. “Preferred provider” contracts with insurance require equal fees for all patients with discounts given ONLY to the insured–forcing higher prices on the uninsured. In spite of high premiums, insurance may deny services to the patient and payment to the doctor, requiring extra staff and expense to manipulate the paperwork.
You can pay for insurance for years but if you lose your job and your insurance, the money you gave the insurance company in the past is gone, and if you get sick at that point, you have nothing.
If you get Catastrophic insurance (always a good idea) you can put the money you save on your premiums into a personal health savings account. Then if you lose your job or your insurance changes, your money stays with you and you are prepared for unexpected medical bills.
Can I get reimbursed by my insurance?
Check with your insurance company about reimbursement for services given by “out of network” providers. Search the internet under the name of your insurance and “out of network provider” and there will be forms you can fill out. If you submit these with an invoice that says paid in full, you may be able to get reimbursement. Medicare and Medicaid will not reimburse out of network providers. Medicare requires that you sign a paper acknowledging that you were informed that my services to you are not covered. This agreement with me does not affect any other doctor you see.
Labs, x-rays, or other testing and referrals to other doctors are paid for as usual by your insurance. It is only my personal services that are not covered.
Please note that HMO insurances only pay for labs and referrals put in by your primary care provider. I am not signed up with any insurances.
Where do I get labs or x-rays?
You can get labs done at Labcorp, which is an independent lab located at the clinics in Bellaire and East Jordan. Labs, x-rays and other testing can also be done through any of the local hospitals.
How do I pay you?
After your visit, you will receive an invoice by email that gives a link for you to pay with credit, debit, or HSA card. Or you can mail me a check.
What are your fees?
